Course Description:

Obstructive sleep apnea affects 1 in 10 people, includes all ages, and most individuals suffering from the effects are unaware they have it. Comorbidities are many, and encompass most common diseases including periodontitis. Dental hygienists are optimally suited to identify the signs and symptoms that can be found all over someone’s face, in their mouths and in their body postures. This course will review comorbidities and developmental factors that increase risk, identify common oral signs, introduce 1-minute screenings and discuss referrals and current treatment options.
