Course Description

Every dental team member delivers care standing on the same choice point: fix the problem in front of you, or catch it before it becomes one. This session challenges hygienists and dental teams to move from a reactive model — find, fix, move on — to a proactive one: identify the condition early, educate clearly, offer real solutions, and support long-term health. Dr. Lohmann shares her own journey from conservative restorative dentist to proactive healthcare professional, along with the clinical science, communication frameworks, and measurable outcomes that made the shift possible — including a nearly 60% jump in case acceptance. Attendees will learn how to have earlier, evidence-based conversations about caries, periodontal disease, and oral-systemic risk; how to use DISC communication styles to make those conversations land with different patients and team members; and how documentation, team alignment, and diagnostic technology work together to build lasting patient trust.
